Our Learning Academie offers two Georgia Lottery funded Pre-Kindergarten classrooms.  This is the next stop  on your child`s way toward elementary school.  The Pre-K program is filled with enjoyable activities that the children are able to choose, as well as structured and planned activities throughout the day. Center time offers one hour of "free play" where children learn how to make choices while developing confidence and independence.

Our program follows guidelines set forth by Georgia`s Bright From the Start Early Childhood Education Department.  We are regularly observed and reviewed by state consultants.  The curriculum introduces various academic areas that prepare each child for a successful transition into Kindergarten.  The curriculum also focuses on the social development of children.

Pre-K activities include large and small group instruction that are both teacher led as well as independent exploration by the children.  Large motor skills are developed through outdoor play as well as musical dance and movement activities.  The nine learning centers found in each classroom  allow students to explore the weekly themes through imagination and creativity.  Through the study of music and literature, children are introduced to different cultures and people around the world.

Our Pre-K Learning Stations include the following:

  •          Art Center presents free-choice art experiences that develop skills and imagination.
  •          Block Center develops spatial awareness through stacking, sorting, building, and recreating.
  •          Dramatic Play Center role play activities with realistic and imaginary props.
  •          Math Center lets children apply math skills with a variety of materials and strategies..
  •          Science/Sensory Center allows children to investigate with natural materials and tools.
  •          Writing Center encourages beginning letter formation through a variety of materials.
  •          Listening Center allows children to listen to stories or music with a friend or independently.
  •          Library Center promotes independent reading and a love of books.

Students are assessed weekly to determine growth within seven developmental domains.

  •          Language and Literacy
  •          Mathematical
  •          Scientific
  •          Social Studies
  •          Creative
  •          Social and Emotional
  •          Health and Physical

The information gathered is then shared with the child`s parents during conferences twice a year.  Through communication between teachers and parents throughout the year, our students receive the opportunity to grow and develop.

Our Pre-K lead teachers are state certified and have been teaching in our facility for over 14 years.  They have the experience within the Pre-K program to identify the best strategies for your child`s academic development.  The weekly themes provide a "special" event each week that allows the children to fully experience the lessons.  In addition, four field trips are planned each school year so that children can explore the community around them.

Children continue to learn about themselves and the environment around them in an atmosphere permeated with the Kids 'R' Kids philosophy of “Hug First, Then Teach.” Teachers encourage and praise children for their accomplishments, building their self-esteem and creating memorable learning experiences with them.
